A study by MasterCard reveals that Shanghai is one of eight Asian cities to make it into the top 25 World Centres of Commerce, AFP reports. Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong remain the top Asian cities, while Shanghai is placed 24th in the new ranking list. London tops the worldwide ranking, followed by New York.
The MasterCard Worldwide Centres of Commerce Index measures the
attractiveness of cities, rather than countries, and helps
"corporations to identify and evaluate investment and market
opportunities", AFP quoted Yuwa Hedrick-Wong, Economic Adviser for
MasterCard Worldwide, Asia Pacific.
Four other Chinese cities made it into the World's Top 100: Beijing
(57th), Shenzhen (60th), Chengdu (72nd) and Chongqing (73rd).
