Yet another salutary airline tale - in an industry riddled with failures - ended on Wednesday. Hong Kong's collapsed budget airline Oasis was formally wound-up following an order from the High Court. Employees and passengers left with useless tickets can now apply for compensation.
Oasis launched in October 2006 and offered extremely low fares between
Hong Kong and London, and it later added a Hong Kong-Vancouver route.
The airline ceased trading on 9 April, leaving passengers and staff
stranded. The firm's founders blamed soaring fuel costs and a decision to buy aircraft instead of renting them.
Not the first, and almost certainly not the last. Watch this space.
