A new luxury resort is set to open at one of Beijing's most famous tourism attractions. The Aman at Summer Palace will open this autumn, although one of its restaurants will be open in August in time for the 2008 Olympic Games.

According to a company release, the new 43-room resort will be located "just steps from the east gate of the Summer Palace grounds, The Aman at Summer Palace is housed in a series of dwellings that date back over a century and were built for guests awaiting an audience with Empress Dowager Cixi."

Rooms and suites are arranged around interior courtyard gardens reached by covered wooden passageways that "echo the design of the Summer Palace itself." There will also be four restaurants, a bar, library and boutique and the Aman Club - a large spa and pool and health center that will be located underground.
