Apple Opens First Store in China
Apple will open its first own store in Beijing's Sanlitun area in August, Sina.com reports. This will be the first direct-run store for the American computer producer in China (except Hong Kong). The 1,000 sq m store will comprise three floors. Apple entered the Chinese market 15 years ago through sales agents. Today, there are more than 400 approved Apple outlets China.
Telefonica Earmarks EUR1 bn for China
Spain's leading telecommunications operator Telefonica said it will
increase its sourcing budget to EUR1 bn in China. The company has also
announced its outsourcing standards, procedures and key product
catalogue, state media reports. Telefonica became a shareholder of
China Netcom in 2005, and increased its stake to 7.22 per cent in early
2008. After the merger of China Unicom and China Netcom, the Spaniards
will hold about two per cent of the new company.
